Our Grade 2 listed building and former coaching inn comprises of an extensive bar downstairs and our beautiful "Upstairs @ The Albion" dining.

Open from 5pm Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday you can walk in or book online here. We have roaring woodburners, atmospheric lighting, a private bar and table service - its is truly a special experience.

This area is available for private hire during week days until 5pm.

Accommodating both daytime and evening gatherings – including Christmas and birthday parties.

We can seat 20 guests on our 2 antique victorian tables.

Events

Here at the Albion we have a dedicated Events Manager who will make your event very special. For larger events you can hire the entire upstairs area for both day time events & evening.

We can seat 40 guests upstairs and have a lovely private bar exclusively for you which stocks draught Guinness, Lager & Cider, our full wine and sparkling wine, all premium spirits and a dedicated team to assist with your every need.

Whatever the occasion – birthdays, anniversary, small wedding receptions, Wakes & Memorials, baby showers or anything else we can accommodate your needs. We have our standard offers and alongside this a totally bespoke service if you prefer something more tailored.

Our History

The Albion is a very special place. Steeped in history this 17th Century Coach House is one of Clifton’s most popular dining and drinking establishments and has remained so for over 250 years since its opening in the 1760s.

Thomas Boyce acquired land on Clifton Hill and spent £8000 building accommodation for the wealthy visitors who flocked to the spa for the season. Built in the late 1760s for stabling of coach and horses for the visitors. The Albion is most likely named after a 200 ton ship built at that time in the Bristol shipyards, owned by Davis and Protheroe and launched in 1778 under the name of The Albion.

Our four legged friends are very welcome to come and while away the time whilst their owners enjoy some Albion refreshments. We always have a fine selection of complimentary dog biscuits available to suit all poochie palates.

Cooled, fresh water served straight to them and topped up when needed by our team as they pass by and perhaps a sneaky cheeky doggy biscuit too!
